PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Probation Counselor, County of Alameda,

Camp Wilmont Sweeney. 2600 Fairmont Drive, San Leandro, CA

October 1987 - January 2000

I supervised and counseled youth using the knowledge, principles, and

techniques established by the department. Our clients were young people who

were in custody at a rehabilitation facility. while they are in the facility, outside on

work crews, or in the community. My duties included the following

responsibilities:

1. Assisting in the supervision and counseling of juveniles and adults at

rehabilitative facilities, and in the community, and learns the methods

of directing their activities in a variety of circumstances, such as

school, vocational training, leisure time, recreation, work or work

apprentice programs.

2. Using a variety of counseling techniques for juveniles and adults and

conducts both individual and group counseling sessions.

3. Applying methods and standards for keeping a rehabilitative facility

safe, healthy and secure for those persons committed.

4. Preparing a variety of reports including observation and/or incident

reports and counseling logs/treatment plans.

For 16 years, I worked as a customer services representative for PG&E Over

this time, I develop several core skills that include the ability to communicate

effectively, how to show empathy, willingness to have patience, and the ability to

apply technical knowledge in problem-solving. It was here that I first developed a

passion for counseling.

I am currently the board president for this group of kids. Through the years, I

have served as coach, mentor, and counselor.
